I got my first pair of glasses in the sixth grade. I loved those gold-rimmed beauties, until someone told me that I had the same glasses as Santa Claus. It was middle school when I finally got contacts, and by high school, I had embraced my nerdy identity.

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis), commonly referred to as laser vision correction or laser eye surgery, is a type of refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Laser vision correction or LASIK surgery is performed by an ophthalmologist who uses a laser programmed to remove a defined amount of tissue to reshape the eye's cornea, in order to improve visual acuity.
